SYRIZA Central Committee: Leftist alliances and renegotiation of debt

Some friction is expected regarding the names to be included on the ballot, however there will be no major turbulence within the party

The Central Committee of the main opposition Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) completed its meeting on Saturday night. The group adopted SYRIZA President Alexis Tsipras’ proposal that included a policy of forming alliances.

The Leftist platform voiced many objections during the meeting regarding the participation of several independent MPs or former PASOK officials and ended up not participating in the final vote.

Following the finalization of the list of candidates to be included on the party’s ballot, the tickets are expected to be completed over the coming days. A few frictions are expected, however problems won’t be serious.

During the meeting, Mr. Tsipras said that the European Centra Bank (ECB) could not exclude Greece if it decides to move to a full “quantitative easing” program. He also said that his party would ensure that much of Greece’s debt was written off as part of a renegotiation of its international bailout deal.
