The 2.27-meter tall caryatid statues found in the ancient tomb of Amphipolis may hold the key to the mystery of the exact date of the tomb bearing in mind that no coins have been discovered until now. Ethnos newspaper states that archaeologists working on subtracting debris from around the caryatids may find valuable information considering their age. So far all we know is that the caryatids carry elements from the archaic age and have “Greek feet” of noble origin.
Meanwhile, there is a great deal of commotion surrounding an offensive hoax involving the sale of one of the caryatid statues of Amphipolis on e-bay with a starting bid at US $100 or 77.98 euros.
