“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” – First teaser trailer (video)

The video was criticised by the Tolkien fans

The first teaser trailer of the long-awaited series, which will debut this fall, “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”, saw the light of day during the Super Bowl.

In the video, we take a closer look at the main characters, whose story we will follow, the different parts of the world, and a war. The story will take us, as the trailer says, before JRR Tolkien’s books, “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings”, during the Second Age. The story will contain a lot of new elements as it is not based on a specific book by the author, but is inspired by the rest of the mythology published through the Memoirs of the Lord of the Rings (The Lord of the Rings Appendices), “The Silmarillion” and other notes. Although many details are not yet known, we know that we will see the rise of Sauron, who is still named Mairon, in the peaceful Middle-earth.

The die-hard fans of Tolkein and the fantasy books did not take well to the teaser flooding the comment section of the video on YouTube with a phrase attributed to Tolkien: “Evil cannot create anything new, it can only spoil and destroy what good forces have invented or created.” – J.R.R. Tolkien” expressing their protest to the producers’ failure to remain faithful to the lore of the world of Tolkien and pandering to the woke culture.
