The meeting between Greek PM Samaras and German Chancellor Merkel concluded

“Greece shows very positive signs and we are certain that Greece’s economy will soon recover,” Merkel stressed

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in a joint press conference with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, expressed her content with the progress achieved in Greece’s recovery program.

“Greece shows very positive signs and we are certain that Greece’s economy will soon recover,” Merkel stressed and added “Germany will support Greece, since the first signs of success are now visible.”

Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said that they had the opportunity to talk about the stabilization program and stressed that now markets trust the Greek economy.

“Greece achieved its targets earlier than expected. We managed to achieve primary surplus in 2013 and we will do the same in 2014. We exited to the markets earlier than it was scheduled. We exit recession after six years, in the third quarter of 2014” he said adding that Greece is becoming a factor for energy security.

“What has been achieved with the support of our partners show that we leave the crisis behind us. There is no need for a new aid package. We need tax relief measures in order to achieve our goals on surplus and structural changes. I believe that with economic growth we can achieve more results” Mr. Samaras said.
