The students were asked to comment on an extract from I.M. Panagiotopoulos essay on Humanism

An ‘easy’ topic according to students and teachers – “The topics of the Modern Greek subject were easy and sufficiently covered in the class,” said the general secretary of Hellenic Federation of Private Tutors Mr. Vafiadakis

The National University Entrance Exams (Panhellenic exams) began today with the subject of Modern Greek Literature that includes Composition. The students were already in their seats by 08:00 in the morning and the bell rang right on time, at 8:30 a.m.

The exams topics were delivered as scheduled at 9:00 a.m., and the 105,000 senior students who seek to secure one of the 70,305 places in Greek universities were asked to comment on an extract from I.M. Panagiotopoulos’ essay on humanism, entitled “Modern man”.
Students were asked to write a composition in the form of a newspaper article and develop their thoughts on the lack of humanism in modern society.
Talking to protothema.gr, a senior student characterized the topic as “easy” and relevant. On the other hand, the teachers underlined that the wording was very clear and understandable.
The general secretary of Hellenic Federation of Private Tutors (OEFE) Mr. Vafiadakis said to protothema.gr that the topic of humanism that students were asked to comment on was sufficiently covered in class and was anticipated by students. OEFE’s General Secretary also underlined that the majority of senior students found the composition topic and generally all the topics of Modern Greek subject clear and understandable.

The latest instructions of the Ministry of Education for senior students:

– Students should know beforehand the exact address of their exam center, so they can be there on time.
– Students should have with them the exam participation papers provided by their high school.
– During the exam, students should follow the instructions of teachers, to ensure a smooth process.

Deputy Education Minister, Symeon Kedikoglou wished the students the best of luck in their effort to secure one of the 70,305 places in Greek universities and technical colleges. His statement was as follows: “Today is the first day of the exams. I wish the students with all my heart strength and success. You are facing a great challenge and also a great opportunity, hopefully one of the many you will encounter in your life. The Panhellenic Exams are also a challenge for parents and teachers, the people who have contributed in the successful completion of this school year. I feel the need to thank them and wish them strength for these years National University Entrance Exams. Good luck to all the students.”
