Thriller Everest kicks off 72nd Venice Film Festival

“Interruption” by Yorgos Zois is the Greek participation in the Festival

The 72nd Venice International Film Festival has been officially opened at the beautiful Italian city and will last till 12th September.

Baltasar Kormakur’s “Everest” kicked off the festival winning praise for its use of 3D technology and bursts of anxiety provided to the audience.

Jake Gyllenhaal, Diane Kruger, Elizabeth Banks, Josh Brolin, Keira Knightley were among the many famous film stars attended the opening of Venice Film Festival.

The film participations are numerous and once more a Greek film is among them competing other international films, “Interruption” by Yorgos Zois.

Among the 21 participations for the award are Alexander Sokurov (“Francofonia”), Marco Bellocchio (“Blood of My Blood”), Jerzy Skolimowski (“11 minutes”), Amos Gitai and Pablo Trapero (“The Clan”).

The festival offers 15 films from its official Orizzonit and Biennale College programme to the public to watch online worldwide during the festival.
