Tim Cook on the iCloud scandal

Apple’s powerful man spoke in the Wall Street Journal of his next steps to tighten security

This is the first time that Apple’s powerful man, Tim Cook, spoke publicly about the “hack” scandal with the leaked naked photos of Hollywood celebrities which caused a global furor, primarily due to their actual content as well as proving how “leaky” the system of one of technology’s giants really is.

Apple is planning to increase security to their iCloud service and add alarms and alerts to users, according to Tim Cook’s statements in the Wall Street Journal.

Email and phone alerts (notifications) will be sent as soon as the code of an account changes, when the iCloud stores data onto a new device or when a new device enters the account. This, combined with the two-step identification process which is already available will tighten security. Cook acknowledged that Apple could  have done more to encourage users to use stronger passwords or two warn them of the dangers of hackers.
