The ultra-fascist Golden Dawn trial is underway on Monday at a specially adapted room of Korydallos Prison. Golden Dawn leader Nikos Mihaloliakos, one of the defendants held for criminal activities, was absent on the first day of the trial that started with 44 defendants in court from the total of 69.

Lawyers from the prosecution and defence as well as witnesses, such as the parents of 34-year-old murdered rapper Pavlos Fyssas are present. Journalist Dimitris Psaras who provided important information for the investigation of the case is also in court.

The trial is expected to be postponed to a later date as there is opposition to the venue.

George Roupakias, Fyssas murderer, arrived at the court-room, handcuffed shortly after 9 a.m.
