Tripadvisor: These are the 25 best beaches in the world for 2024 – Two Greek among them (photos)

The Falassarna beach in Crete ranked 19th, and Myrtos in Kefalonia ranked 23rd

Tripadvisor has released the list of the top 25 beaches in the world, including Greek ones. According to the travel website, the number 1 beach is Praia da Falesia in Albufeira, Portugal, which was awarded first place in the 2024 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best awards for beaches.

The criteria for a beach to make it onto Tripadvisor’s list include the quality and number of reviews and ratings from travelers for beaches worldwide, collected from October 2022 to September 2023.

The best beach in the world

Praia da Falesia, which won the… gold medal that was in sixth place last year, has gathered 5,900 reviews so far – with 68% of them awarding it the coveted ‘five bubbles’ rating.

“Praia da Falesia is known for its dramatic red, sandy cliffs and is accessible by a wooden staircase. It is beloved by Tripadvisor reviewers for its soft, powdery sand, ideal for sunbathing and strolling,” the website writes.

For one more year, two Greek beaches made it to the list of the top 25 beaches in the world: Falassarna Beach in Crete in the 19th place and Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia in 23rd place.

For Falassarna, the website writes: ‘Pink sand, blue waters, stunning mountains, incredible sunsets – Falassarna Beach is all about the view. After you’ve enjoyed them all, swim, snorkel, or relax on the soft sand – grab something at a nearby bar or café. The beach is ideal for families and offers free amenities such as toilets and parking.

As for Myrtos, it says: ‘Surrounded by mountains, Myrtos Beach is a picturesque spot, perfect for a laid-back day at the beach. Take a dip in the azure waters or snorkel, and then grab something at a nearby café. It rarely gets crowded, so there’s plenty of space to relax and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere.
