The leader of the main opposition party, SYRIZA, Mr. Tsipras attempts to open up to social and political forces of center-left, and center. In a detailed article, published on “Epochi” newspaper, he presents his plan to set up a government highlighting the need for broader alliances as a condition for SYRIZA to take the power.
“We know very well that the political and economic system will not let SYRIZA continue its fight to overthrow the current governmental scheme. They try to intimate middle class using media and posing false dilemmas. They plan in advance to restrict the movements of such a government to anticipate its fall”.
In any case, alliances are crucial to the efforts made by SYRIZA to take power, in the following context:
“The process of taking the state power will be a long process of struggle and conflicta and the outcome will depend also on the ability of SYRIZA to achieve broader possible consensus and create the broadest possible social and political groupings regarding specific dilemmas that arise from the same programmatic commitments and the outcome of previous conflicts”.
To avoid having the essence of political alliances questioned, Mr. Tsipras reassure those who have doubts and think that this strategy might force the party to step back by saying that “the first goal in this process, as we have already said and committed, is to cancel the memorandum, abolish austerity measures and renegotiate the debt”.
He clarifies, however, that “abolition of austerity measures does not simply mean increases in wages with government mandates but concerns the increase in the bargaining power of the working classes leading them to the power”.
