Tsipras: We won’t pay the IMF without an agreement

The PM estimates that the banks will not… dare to close

Greek PM Alexis Tsipras expressed his belief that European lenders will “veer off” in order to avoid a head-on collission whichi would in turn signal a completely disagreement with their Greek counterparts and a Grexit.

 

After negotiations fell through on Sunday, when lenders’ representatives refused to negotiate with Mr. Tsipras’ envoys, the Greek PM seems to be seriously considering the possibility to reach an agreement with the country’s political parties in order to keep a strong front for the upcoming struggle.

 

People close to the Prime Minister state that he is considering asking President Pavlopoulos to call for a meeting of political leaders in order to discuss the latest developments and set forth a common tactic that the Greek side will follow in the framework of remaining in the Eurozone. Mr. Tsipras is also aiming to not pay the IMF and he estimates that there will be no capital controls enforced in the banks. As he seems to have said “The banks will not dare to close”.
