Turkey provokes again: “The Aegean is Ours” says video commemorating Republic Day (video)

Republic Day is a public holiday commemorating the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey, on 29 October 1923

On the occasion of the Republic Day of October 29, the Directorate of Communications of the Turkish Presidency held events with 3D visualizations and videos in historical places in Istanbul and Ankara with the theme “Growing with Democracy, Entering the Century of Turkey”.

3D graphics were projected onto the walls of the historic Haydarpasa Railway Station, the Galata Tower, the Presidential Symphony Orchestra (CSO) building in Ankara, and the Museum of Democracy. In the video, among others, the phrases “The Aegean is ours” and ” We carved the Blue Homeland in our seas” can be heard.

“We are a double-headed eagle, we spread wings in history. We took root, and we became a plane tree, with 3 continents, and 7 climates. Our crescent was the star, painted with red blood, it became the flag of the Republic…In the Mediterranean, we exist. Our proud flag is flying in the Black Sea” can be heard among other things in the video.

The Turkish media rushed a few hours later to emphasise that the Greek press characterised these images as a new provocation. “The October 29 video caused panic in Greece,” writes Sabah, referring to Greek publications on the matter.
