Turkish airstrikes kill 9 Kurds in Northern Iraq say local media (warning graphic vid)

A pregnant woman among those killed

Turkish air-strikes killed at least 9 people in the Kurdish village of Zargala in Northern Iraq, according to reports from local media. The Turkish military has been embroiled in a 2-prong military operation against the jihadists of ISIS and the Kurdish fighters of PKK on its south-east borders, where it meets with Iraq and Syria, and area contested by PKK fighters and ISIS jihadists.

The President of Iraq’s Kurdistan, Massoud Barzani condemned the attacks by the Turkish military and called on all parties to return to the negotiating table, taking to Reuters.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry stated it has launched an investigation to examine whether civilians had indeed been killed by Turkish airstrikes.

According to reports coming out of the region from local Kurdish media the Turkish airstrikes on Saturday resulted in the death of 9 civilians, among them a pregnant woman, while 15 others were injured.

Turkey and the PKK, who the turkish authorities consider a terrorist group, have been on a fragile ceasefire for many years, but the PKK has accused Turkey of aiding the ISIS terrorists and targeting them instead.
