Turkish authorities reportedly beat to death a Kurd in Western Turkey

The Turkish Gendarmerie, a unit of the Turkish Ministry of Interior attacked the Jaber family, which was displaced 15 years ago from Van to the village of Çanağla, western Turkey.

According to Sarhad News, a resident of the village, who is hostile to the family, stabbed Jaber Yavuz in 10 places on his body.

The lawyer for the family, Zilan Lundoglu, said that Jaber arrived at the house injured and called for the Gendarmerie and ambulance, and after the Gendarmerie arrived, verbal altercations occurred between Gendarmerie and Jaber, and as a result, one of the Gendarmerie members shot Jaber.

Jaber Yavuz lost his life while being transferred to the government hospital in Çanağla.

The information stated that the Gendarmerie beat and tortured the family members, and instead of taking them to the hospital, they were transferred to the police station.

The family’s lawyer indicated that the situation is critical, and said: “The Gendarmerie shot the family members repeatedly, they targeted the head of the family, and its members were tortured by the Gendarmerie.”
