Turkish corvette violates Greek territorial waters

Ships and resources of the Hellenic Navy monitored and are monitoring the Turkish ship throughout the duration of its course.

According to an announcement released by the Hellenic National Defence General Staff on Tuesday, a Turkish corvette named “Büyükada” violated Greek territorial waters at 3 in the morning.

Büyükada was sailing at the Gulf of Saros, an inlet of the northern Aegean Sea located north of the Gallipoli Peninsula in northwestern Turkey and it entered Greek territorial waters at dawn, when it was spotted in the sea area of Kafireas Straits.

It should be noted that Kafireas Straits is the waterway formed by Cape Kafireas and the nearby island of Andros.

The corvette continued its course to the South, passing between Kea and Kythnos islands.
