Turkish judge requests political asylum in Chios

50-year-old man transferred to Athens

According to portal politischios.gr, a Turkish judge has asked for political asylum to Greek authorities on the island of Chios, Tuesday morning. The 50-year-old man is reportedly a Turkish judge and landed on the island with a boat of Syrian refugees. The report says he told the Greek authorities that he feared for his life by the Erdogan regime. After landing on the island the man was transported to the Chios coast guard headquarters at which point he produced documentation to the officers proving his identity, while immediately requesting political asylum. He was arrested for illegal entry and will reportedly be transferred to Athens where his request will be examined the the competent body.
