Turkish media says Greece behind Istanbul Courthouse terrorism

Could Greece be the training ground for DHKP-C militants? The Turkish press seems to think so!

Turkish media outlets claim that the two terrorists killed in a raid at the Istanbul Caglayan Courthouse on Tuesday after gunning down Prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz made a call to senior officials of the Revolutionary People’s Liberal Party-Front (DHKP-C) in Greece.

The Turkish media reports that both the Greek Foreign Ministry and the Greek Embassy in Ankara refused to comment on this even though the Turkish press is abuzz with reports that the phone calls were made to Agonas, a Greek-based daily published by DHKP-C members.

There are questions in Turkey regarding the DHKP-C’s activities in Greece with a number of claims by intelligence officials in Greece concerning militants receiving armed training at the Lavrion Refugee Camp in Greece. Suspicion was further raised after a Greek court rejected to extradite DHKP-C member Mehmet Yayla who had been arrested in Greece in July 2013 for carrying arms and explosives to Turkey.
