UK warns citizens of terrorist attacks at France Euro2016

Man recently arrested planning 15 attacks at football competition

The UK Foreign Office issued a travel directive to British nationals attending the EURO2016 in France advising them to be cautious about possible terrorist attacks. The statement advises British citizens to follow the French authorities’ instruction on matters of safety and lists areas that could be possible targets for terrorists like of large fan gatherings, stadiums, open spaces or cafes where the matches are being broadcast, urban city transport hubs and intersections etc.

The warning comes after the recent arrest of a French national on the Polish-Ukrainian borders who had 100 kilos of explosives in his van, rounds of ammunition, Kalashnikovs, three grenade launchers etc. The man was reportedly planning 15 attacks at the Euro2016. ‘There is a high risk of terrorist attacks  due to the threats France has received from the Islamic State (IS) and other Islamist organisations’, reads the warning advice
