Ukraine war – Bloody street-to-street fighting in the city of Bakhmut

Wagner has entered the city centre

Fighting between Russians and Ukrainians in the city of Bakhmut is fierce and bloody with both sides suffering significant losses while admitting that the situation is difficult.

The Wagner Group has come close to entering the centre of the city and it seems to be a matter of time before they capture the whole city.

Wagner founder Yevgeny Prigozhin admitted yesterday Sunday that the situation in the city is ” difficult, very difficult.” The closer we are to the city center, the fiercer the fighting (…) The Ukrainians are constantly sending in reinforcements. But we are moving forward and we will move forward.”

Russia, he said, has sent ammunition to his forces. “Yesterday we received 15 trucks, today 12. And I believe we will continue to receive,” he said, adding that there is no conflict between his forces and Russian troops.

The head of the Ukrainian ground army Oleksandr Syrskyi said the situation in the city, which is almost deserted, is difficult. However, he clarified that his forces are repelling all Russian attacks.

“All the enemy’s attempts to capture the city are being repelled by artillery, tanks, and other means, ” Sirski pointed out, adding that Wagner “is attacking from various sides trying to break the defense of our forces and advance towards the central districts city’s”.
