UNHCR says relocation of Syrian refugees must be guaranteed

Europe must hold talks on the refugee crisis, says UNHCR

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) head of communications Melissa Fleming said Europe must guarantee the relocation of Syrian refugees as a record number are arriving at FYROM, Greece and neighboring countries. 7,000 refugees reached FYROM yesterday, Fleming said, adding that nearly 30,000 were gathered on Greek islands including, 20,000 on Mytilene. “It is urgent that talks be held this week in Europe, as the it is a European problem and the solution cannot only be offered by Germany”, said Fleming during a press conference, Tuesday. The UNHCR official welcomed the separate statements made by the UK and France to host a number of Syrian refugees, underling that reception centers had to be set up in Greece and Hungary.
