Union of Hellenic Chambers head warns about possible natural gas shortage due to Russian embargo

Mr. Michalos urged the government to establish a timely plan to deal with possible natural gas shortages and to take preventive measures.

“The Russian embargo has caused chain reactions in Greece’s economy and businesses, not just in exports but also in the country’s supply with natural gas”, says the President of the Union of Hellenic Chambers of Commerce and Industry Mr. Constantine Michalos and calls on the government to take initiatives on a European and national level in order to solve these problems.

In an announcement he released, Mr. Michalos noted that Greece has a high energy dependence on Russia and the possibility of the disruption of the natural gas flow directly from Russia or through Ukraine will cause tremendous problems in the operation of businesses as well as the Greek economy in general.
Mr. Michalos urged the government to establish a timely plan to deal with possible natural gas shortages and to take preventive measures.
