University education rally: Protesters clash with police (video & photos)

The incidents took place in front of the Parliament building

Clashes between students and the anti-riot police broke out at the university rally in Syntagma and Exarchia, in central Athens, where hundreds of students gathered to express their opposition to the establishment of branches of foreign universities in Greece.

In Exarchia, where the march reached its end, a group of demonstrators started throwing objects at police officers and set fire to bins.

Earlier, protesters clashed with police forces at Syntagma and then fired tear gas and flash-bang grenades.

As seen in the video, there was hand-to-hand fighting when students approached riot police cars outside the parliament wanting to break the police blockade.
