Urgent announcement of the Holy Metropolis of Sweden

On Saturday, December 24, 2022, the scheduled Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in the church of St. John of the Syrian-Aramean Community

The Holy Metropolis of Sweden and All Scandinavia informs the flock of the Mother Church in Gothenburg, that yesterday evening, December 21, 2022 due to the heavy rains that hit the region in the last few days, there was flooding and damage to the facilities of the Holy Trinity Church in Gothenburg.

The Holy Metropolis immediately informed the insurance company and the competent company, whose crew went to the church within shortly after, removed the rainwater and installed suitable mechanisms to remove the moisture.

After establishing the damage, the expert representative of the company personally informed H.E. Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden that until the damage is repaired, the church will not be able to function, nor be accessible to the faithful.

Following this, His Eminence addressed H.E. Archbishop Benjamin of the Syrian-Aramean Community of Sweden, informed him about the events and asked him to grant him the church of the Syrian-Aramean Community of Gothenburg, for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, which is already planned for Christmas Eve. H.E. Benjamin responded positively to the Metropolitan’s request.

Therefore, on Saturday, December 24, 2022, the scheduled Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in the church of St. John of the Syrian-Aramean Community (S:t Juhannes Syrisk kyrkan), at the address Blässebogärdet 2 , 424 33 Angered/Hjälbo.
