Varoufakis explains why he voted in favor of 2nd round of measures

The former finance minister agreed to the second round of measures though he believes that the program is doomed to failure

Former Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis told PressProject website on Thursday why he voted “Yes” for the second package of prior actions as a follow-up interview with last week’s reportage on why he had voted “No” for the first round of measures.

“My aim is, despite the fundamental disagreement with our actions after the memorandum, the maintenance of SYRIZA’s unity, the support of (PM) Alexis Tsipras and (FinMin) Euclid Tsakalotos,” he said. In other words, his motivation when agreeing to the second bailou was to gain time for the party.

He said that his vote would not help the government towards a common cause because the agreement reached at the Euro Summit is doomed to failure.
