Yanis in Parliament: What % of Memorandum will we accept? Answer: 0%

“The vote of confidence marks the country’s post-memorandum course”, says the Minister of Finance

“You ask us not to go into conflict in order to help us?” was Yanis Varoufakis’ rhetorical questions towards the opposition on Tuesday, when he addressed Parliament.

In response he added: “that’s a contradiction in terms, since it’s not the way to negotiate … If that’s the case we’d do well to stay here and organize our ministries in order to receive (troika) orders via email”.

“Critical moments demand clear words and a straight head,” Varoufakis — admittedly the world’s newest “celebrity economist” — said. He also tried explained what is the actual meaning of the “end of the memorandum” means, in his vocabulary.
“Memorandum for us are new loans added to old loans. Before 2010 the country’s GDP was boosted by unsustainable borrowing. As a result the pyramid-modelled growth became a pyramid-like austerity,” Yanis explained in only a way Varoufakis could.
“We accept 0% of the memorandum”.
