Venezuela: World’s oldest man dies at age 114

Father of 11 children had in 2022, 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren

Juan Vicente Pérez Mora of Venezuela, who in 2022 became the world’s oldest man in 2022, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, died yesterday, Tuesday, at the age of 114, authorities and his family announced today.

“Juan Vicente Pérez Mora has passed into eternity at the age of 114.

This man from El Compre offered Venezuela the record of longevity attributed by Guinness World Records,” Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said in a post on social media X.

On February 4, 2022, Juan Vicente Pérez Mora, then aged 112 years and 253 days, was officially recognised as the oldest man on the planet, according to the Guinness World Records website.

The father of 11 children, Juan Vicente Pérez Mora had 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren in 2022.

This man, a farmer by profession, was born in El Compre, Tahira state, western Venezuela, on 27 May 1909.

He was the ninth child in a family of 10 children.

“At the age of five, he began working with his father and brothers in cultivating the land and helping to harvest sugar cane and coffee,” the Guinness Book of World Records wrote after awarding this distinction.
