Video shows Kotzias berated by Greeks in Germany (vid)

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias locked horns with Greeks in Germany who asked him to consider why young Greeks are leaving the country

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias was berated at the Hellas Filmbox festival in Germany for the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) government’s policies in Greece. According to sources, a man told Kotzias that he was visiting Berlin for tourism when people are dying on the streets of Greece. Kotzias dismissed the comments as “inflammatory” but the man wished him a “good trip in general in any way he chooses to take it.”

In footage that emerged from the encounter, another woman invited the Foreign Minister to consider “why Greece’s children are leaving (the country).”

During a public debate that he had with German reporter Ulrike Herrmann of German newspaper Tageszeitung, Kotzias denied that Athens has not accepted the aid it has been given. He stressed that the government is resolved in its efforts to adopt agreements. The debate began with a reference made to statements by Austrian Internal Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner whose country is mulling a temporary exit of Greece from the Schengen Zone.
