The government spokesperson Sophia Voultepsi assured that Greek producers of peach and kiwi will be compensated, either through EU or national funding programmes, for the losses they might suffer due to the Russian embargo stressing that Greece follows the external policy of the European Union and “will not give up its western alliances”.

“Farmers are absolutely right, they cannot sell their products. Whatever happens, they will be compensated, either through EU or national funding programmes, “said Mr. Voultepsi speaking at MEGA TV channel.

She also added that even some Greek products will be excluded from the Russian embargo, but without providing any information.

She stressed that “a responsible state does not determine its foreign policy based on some loads of peaches”, clarifying that “solving the problem of farmers and changing allies are two different issues.”
