Wanted: 165 cleaners for the General Secretariat of Public Revenue

If you want to be a secretary in Greece, perhaps you should get a job as a cleaner first

Question marks are raised over the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) government’s decision to hire 165 cleaners for the General Secretariat of Public Revenue just after the transfer of former Finance Ministry cleaners to the Ministry of Justice where they will now be employed as secretaries!

The decision for the new cleaners was signed by Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos on Friday, October 30, and published in the government’s newspaper on Sunday.

Specifically 111 cleaners will be hired for the General Secretariat of Public Revenue (mainly for tax offices around Greece) and another 54 at central services of the Finance Ministry (e.g. general state auditors offices). The cleaners will be hired part-time for four hours per day with a mixed monthly salary of 484.81 euros, and net at 325 euros.
