Warplanes scramble to escort Air France flight to JFK after scare

Flurry of anonymous threats on Monday wreaked havoc on flight arrivals for eastern US seaboard

New York City’s busy airports were the target of several anonymous reports on Monday of international flight arrivals containing chemical weapons. Expectedly, the US air command scrambled jet fighters, with planes escorting one Air France passenger jet into JFK.

Air France Flight 22, which took off from Charles de Gaulle in Paris, was taken to a secure area of the airport called the “hijack site,” according to a report in the NY Post.
The plane carried 165 passengers and 11 crew members. It landed safely just after 10 a.m., local time. It was taken to an area that’s out of the public’s view.

“All cargo was removed first before the passengers were taken off and taken to a secure area where they’ll be told more information about these unplanned safety precautions,” sources told the Post.
