IMF-ECB-EC ‘institutions’ to comment on list of Greek reforms at Eurogroup tele-con’f

Greek FinMin Yanis Varoufakis announced the prospect of a tele-conference in case European lenders’ reacted positively to the Greek proposal

A Eurogroup tele-conference will be held on Tuesday to focus on a list of reforms proposed by the Greek government, a top government official said in Athens on Monday.

The tele-conference is considered as coming “out of the blue”, as it was unclear whether it’s positive omen or a sign of a gap between the Greek government and eurozone creditors.

On Saturday, Greek FinMin Yanis Varoufakis announced the prospect of a tele-conference in case European lenders’ reacted positively to the Greek proposal for extending the loan agreement by four months.

“If they say ‘Yes’ there will be a video-conference where Mario Draghi, Christine Lagarde and Pierre Moscovici will express their views with a simple ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. There will be no voting,” he said on Saturday.

According to Varoufakis’ previous announcement, the “institutions”, i.e. the IMF, ECB and EC, will comment on the Greek government’s submitted list of reforms, which were tabled as a prerequisite for extending the current loan agreement by four months. The previous bailout package expired on Feb. 28.
