You may not have heard of Peter Nazos, but chances are you may have seen at least one of the videos he makes for YouTube channel – Mykonos Live TV. If there’s a celebrity on Mykonos, chances are he’ll know, hunting down stars as they walk through the island’s winding streets, snapping that celebrity nip slip on the club’s dance floor or immortalizing a goddess as she lounges on the sea. It’s a lucrative business.

His videos average 200,000 hits and are reposted across the world.

It all began for Nazos in the summer of 2002 when he left his managerial position in Athens, leaving the cement jungle for a better quality of life enjoying the vast Mykonos blue. Quite by accident he came face-to-face with Ronaldo and snapped a shot. A few telephone calls later he sold his picture and entered a new profession he had never considered before.

He told Greece’s daily Ethnos that it is important to show images of Shakira and Lady Gaga visiting Mykonos because that lifts the prestige of the island and increases its value as a luxury destination. “It is equally important to show the parties at Super Paradise and Cavo Paradise so that that people who don’t know the island can be given a taste of what goes on here,” says Nazos. “People come to Mykonos for a fun time and not to go to the monasteries at Ano Mera nomatter how interesting these are. I know people who, because of a video I uploaded, chose to come to Mykonos rather than Ibiza.”

Despite the hundreds of videos uploaded on Mykonos Live TV, Nazos is a one-man operation. Everything is done by Nazos himself from snapping the shots, editing, uploading, etc. His job is to walk around the Mykonos walkways 18 hours a day until he spots a celebrity. Others still, give themselves away with an Instagram upload on their social media account.
