Why this village in Turkey hasn’t had a wedding in nine years

The men of the village ask Turkish President to fix the problem

A group of men are protesting urging the women of their village to stop rejecting them and get married to them.

A Video posted on CNNTurk.com shows the men of the Turkish village Uzumlu carrying banners and shouting from the rooftops, asking Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erodogan to intervene and fix the problem so as the women stop refusing to marry.

Most of the women in the village have chosen to leave the remote southern Turkish village and move to the big cities.

The men have stayed behind to watch over their family’s lands, while in the village there hasn’t been a marriage in nine years. The village’s population is 233, and the single men are 25.

The men, though, say the women are being unreasonable and that marrying them would help keep the village’s population from dropping, according to Al Arabiya news channel.

To attract women, they have even offered to impregnate their future wives with five children, which is two more kids than what the government recommends.
