Artistic swimmer Anita Alvarez pulled out unconscious by coach

A particularly frightening event took place yesterday during the final of the free program of solo in artistic swimming, in the swimming pool of Budapest.

American Anita Alvarez lost consciousness while performing her choreography in the pool. Her Spanish coach, Andrea Fuentes and an assistant of the event had to dive into the water to save her.

Τhe American team that traveled to Budapest for the World Swimming Championships stated that this is not the first time this has happened to the athlete.

Last year, Alvarez fainted during the qualifiers.
