Zakynthos “shiwpreck” to be preserved

By the Municipality of Zakynthos

A series of actions in order to preserve and protect the historic “Shipwreck” of Zakynthos are to be taken by the Zakynthos Municipality.

According to Zakynthos Mayor, Pavlos Kolokotsas, the municipality is aiming for a series of actions to preserve the ship, under the guidance of scientists well-versed in such issues, as well as to put it in an enclosure, so that it is protected by bathers that are to blame of frequent damages.

A sum of 25,000 to 30,000 euros is called for in the budget, as well as the cooperation of private companies who have specific skills and know-how.

According to the Mayor, a guard will need to be hired to protect the shipwreck during the hours where there are visitors of bathers, as well as the placement of a port-a-potty and the possibility of hiring a lifeguard.
