Police arrested the high school student on suspicion of killing and dismembering her 15-year-old classmate. The 16-year-old suspect confessed to police that she beat the other girl and choked her to death with a rope in the city of Sasebo in Japan’s Nagasaki prefecture.

The violent crime carried out by the minor has shocked Japan. The minor after killing her classmate, she cut her head and left hand. The victim’s body was found on a bed in the suspect’s apartment early on Sunday and investigators discovered tools nearby, according to reports.

The victim’s parents had notified police when she did not return home at night after leaving home to meet her friends.
