33mln Euros released for Greece by EC on migration crisis

First tranche of the total 470mln Euros

The European Commission released a first tranche amounting to 33mln Euros of the total 470mln Euros earmarked to assist Greece on the refugee crisis. The Commission gave the ‘green light’ for the disbursement of the money, which is expected to reach Greece Thursday. The money is the first payment of the 470mln Euros that will go to aid Greece in dealing with the huge refugee and migrant influx. The frequency of the disbursement of the remaining payments will depend on the actions of the Greek authorities in utilizing the funds effectively.
