400 Greeks listed in new batch of Panama Papers release

223 offshore companies

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) uploaded a new batch of the infamous ‘Panama Papers’ on the web which includes 400 Greeks. The information released revealed that these names were linked to 223 offshore companies (77 law firms and 313 addresses in Athens). The ICIJ underlined that the list of Greek names published does not necessarily mean they were all involved in any violation of their national laws. The ICIJ had leaked a huge database of nearly 214,000 companies, a number of which were involved in illicit practices to conceal and launder money through offshore companies in 21 locations around the globe. Speaking to the French News Agency the head of the organisation said the group proceeded to publish the information in an effort to promote transparency and the hope there actions would prompt more revelations through social involvement.
