A 5.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded on the island of Crete a little after 11 am by the Athens Institute of Geodynamics, Wednesday. The tremor occurred 31 km southeast of Zarkos in Siteia, on the northeast shores of the island and was recorded at a depth of 10 km. The earthquake was felt in the city of Heraklion. There were no reports of damages in the area.
