Oswald The Lucky Rabbit was the first character created by Disney

A lost Disney film has been found in the archives of British Film Archive which hasn’t been seen since its initial release 87 years ago in 1928.

The film is called Sleigh Bells with Oswald The Lucky Rabbit starring. Oswald was the first character created by Disney and was Mickey Mouse’s predecessor.

The film was discovered by a researcher at the British Film Institute and it lasts six minutes. It will be shown at the BFI Southbank on December 12.

Robin Baker, head curator at the BFI National Archive said: ‘What a joyful treat to discover a long-lost Walt Disney film in the BFI National Archive and to be able to show Sleigh Bells to a whole new audience 87 years after it was made.”
