Afghan refugee charged with raping 4 y.o boy in Germany

Refugee denies accusations

Newsroom August 17 01:34

AN AFGHAN asylum seeker has been accused of forcing a four-year-old Iraqi refugee to perform oral sex on him at a German asylum centre.
The 22-year-old man has been accused of sexually assaulting the little boy while in a toilet cubicle at the asylum centre in Boostedt near Neumunster in northern Germany on March 29. The court heard the alarm was first raised when the four-year-old’s brother ran to his father saying there was a stranger in the toilet with the little boy.
When the father went to investigate, he saw his son’s shoes and a stranger’s shoes outside the toilet cubicle, local German media has reported.
But when he knocked on the toilet door, the asylum seeker claimed he was only helping the little boy go to the toilet.
The father even thanked the man for helping his son. But it was only later that the young boy told his mother what had really happened.
Prosecutors told the court that experts had since found traces of the boy’s DNA on the man’s genital areas after conducting a swab.
The boy has been counselled after the event and moved.
The accused has denied the claims, saying he had only stopped after the young boy asked him to open the toilet door for him.
A 29-year-old man has also been accused of keeping watch with prosecutors alleging the man used a knife to threaten the little boy’s eight-year-old brother to stay silent.
Both men have been remanded in custody.
The trial began on Tuesday with eight more days of hearings expected.
A ruling is expected in October.
