Nearly 60 members of pro-refugee solidarity NGOs and anarchists invaded the City Hall in Ioannina, in protest against the arrest of 27 refugees, 2 of whom are Spanish members of solidarity groups, late Thursday. According to site thestival.gr, the protesters held Mayor Thomas Begas and some of his associated hostage for a short while, blocking their exit from the building. As epiruspost.gr reported all of those arrested were finally released! Earlier Thursday, Greek police had arrested 27 refugees and members of solidarity groups who were occupying Egnatia Avenue, a main road in the Epirus area in north western Greece.
