Athens airport wins World Routes award

Eleytherios Venizelos is the most awarded airport in the history of World Routes, one of the most important institutions in the industry, with 13 distinctions in 10 years.

Athens International Airport has received another distinction from World Routes, the biggest global airline networking forum on Tuesday, voted  by airline companies with a special honorary award in the category of 4-20 million passengers, in recognition of the continuous dynamic support that the airport offers to airlines for their development efforts, under the extremely adverse economic conditions but also during the recovery period of the aviation industry.
Athens International Airports is the most awarded airport in the history of World Routes, one of the most important institutions in the industry, with 13 distinctions in 10 years.
At the highly significant Routes Conferences, airlines evaluate the airports’ marketing plans and programs, rewarding the ones that address most efficiently the airlines’ efforts to develop new routes, enhancing, at the same time, their presence in the local markets.
This year’s event was held in Chengdu / China (September 24-27) with the participation of 3,500 aviation professionals (300 airlines – 700 airports). Other candidates in the same category were the airports of Abu Dhabi, Brussels, Budapest and Tampa.
