The works on the erection of the Muslim Mosque are in full flight, and the structure is estimated to be ready by the end of April. However, the President of the Muslim Association of Greece, Naim Elgandur expressed doubts about the progress of the works, saying he would only believe it when he went into the Mosque and actually prayed. The structure, which will be erected at land belonging to the Greek navy at the Votanikos area in Athens, had stalled for many years amid legal disputes and the opposition of local residents. “They are mocking and it is not being built. The area has merely been fenced off. I know there are no works underway. They say it will ready in April. That is a lie. They are all the same”, claimed Mr. Elgandur. The area is under tight security with Greek police and a private security company protecting the construction site for fear of reactions.
