Bild: Yanis Varoufakis, like a sex machine (photos + video)

Germans have made much of the Greek FinMin's brute sex appeal

Newsroom February 13 11:24

Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis dominates a story by German’s tabloid “Bild” titled “Like a Sex Machine!” The story is focused on Varoufakis sex appeal as viewed by Greek admirers, that go by the name of “Varoufitses”.

This isn’t the first time that the Bild has gushed over his “classical masculinity”, and there have been a number of articles in the press about the elements that make Varoufakis a “sex icon” such as his balding head, cool style, masculine Yamaha motorcycle and bulging biceps under shirts that are usually one size too small.

Die Welt, too, has had to admit that Greece’s top money man is “anything but dull”.

In its most recent fan article, the newspaper quotes Greek teen schoolgirls to talk about the politician’s obvious endowments. Georgina Marinou, aged 18, swoons when asked: “Oh! He is so sporty, adores extreme sports. He is so good-looking. So intelligent. And when he speaks…he’s unbelievable.”

The newspaper refers to his powerful Yamaha Kawasaki that gives him another air. “A sex symbol on a machine,” writes the paper.

Another student, 18-year-old Ioanna Mastroyianni says. “He’s a dream. That’s the type of man I want!” She swoons when recounting the way he parks his Yamaha outside the ministry, “He’s so stylish, so smartly dressed, sporty, and macho in a smart and sweet way.”

And it isn’t just Greek schoolgirls that are gushing. Famous blogger Dorothy King stopped blogging about Amphipolis and turned to her Twitter account

In one of her comments refers to Varoufakis as Mister Macho.
