Interview questions that are hard to fathom

Most people would jump at the chance to work at google… Considered quite possibly the best place to work in the world, it often trumps global workplace rankings. Inundated by CVs and an endless supply of employees looking for a job, tech companies  such as Google, Facebook, and Apple came up with some questions to help find just the candidates they are interested in. After all, though many want to work at companies such as these, the demands are many.

Here are some questions that candidates who applied at Google were asked:

* Choose a city and estimate how many piano tuners operate a business there.”

* How much do you charge to wash every window in Seattle?

* How many children are born every day?

* How many basketballs can you fit into this room?

* If you could be remembered for one sentence, what would it be?

And it’s not just Google, a candidate who applied to be an engineer at Boeing was asked:

* What do you think of lava lamps? And Dilbert?

At Facebook, a software engineer candidate was asked:

* Given the numbers 1 to 1000, what is the minimum numbers guesses needed to find a specific number if you are given the hint “higher” or “lower” for each guess you make.

Amazon asked:

* If you had 5,623 participants in a tournament, how many games would need to be played to determine the winner?

Celegene, biotech company, threw off its applicants by asking:

* Tell me a story.

Want a job at Bloomberg? Then answer this question:

* Out of 25 horses, pick the fastest 3 horses. In each race, only 5 horses can run at the same time. What is the minimum number of races required?

Hess, an energy company, asked a candidate applying for the job of assistant manager with:

* What is your favorite color?

Microsoft asked candidates:

* If you had a choice between two superpowers – being invisible or flying – which would you choose?

AT&T Customers sales rep candidates were asked:

* If you could be a superhero, which would you be?

 

Goldman Sachs asked a candidate:

* If you were shrunk to the size of a pencil and put in a blender, how would you get out?

US Bank analyst was asked:

* How are M&Ms made?

Deloitte asked:

* How many ridges are there around a quarter?
