The Copenhagen-based Cryos International Sperm Bank is offering Danish women holidays under the sun in beautiful locations in Greece and Spain in exchange for their …eggs. Women will be able to donate their ova and in return they’ll be able to claim a trip.
The decision to offer vacations to egg donors was taken to supplement the minimal compensation that such women are permitted to get under Danish law. The law entitles women to receive 2,400 kroner for their time, but this is less than other countries in the EU, such as Sweden, where women can receive up to 9,000 kroner.
Cryos International Sperm Bank Chief Ole Schou says he sees nothing wrong in offering extra incentives to encourage Danish women to become donors, while also citing the Danish rules as absurd and discriminatory because they allow men to sell sperm but prohibit women from selling their ova.
