Social media caught fire on Wednesday after thousands of Youtube users rushed to view former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis’ 1101 promo trailer. They couldn’t make heads or tails of it. The video refers to a mysterious website and claims that the “1101 are coming. They’ll change everything.” The date given for change is November 1.

Following the trailer, Twitter users began to speculate as to whether the 1101 are a political movement, an elaborate spoof, a TV show or a Hollywood blockbuster directed by Steven Spielberg?

Some ran to history and began to wonder if the concept of 1101 was the same as that of Leonidas and his 300 who fought to death at the Battle of Themopylae against the Persians in 480 BC.
