Although the parties avoided to comment on the record the anti-government rally organized by ‘Resign’ movement, government’s and opposition’s off the record estimates are complete opposites.
The opposition, as well as most media, said that it was a decent rally, since thousands of people participated while vice-president of New Democracy Adonis Georgiadis said that “a group of people via the Internet organized the largest rally after the election” and noted that it was a good start.
Most online media who covered the rally said that thousands of people of all ages and from all social classes gathered in the Syntagma square, while according to estimates the number of demonstrators range from 7,000 to 10,000 people.
The people expressed their frustration for Tsipras and his government, while the favourite slogan was ‘People don’t want you, take your junta and leave’.
The government did not comment on yesterday’s protest. However, left.gr referred to the rally saying: “It was a pleasant afternoon for the left. Despite the mobilization of ND and media propaganda, the number of participants did not exceed 3,000-4,000 people and that was all.”
