Dijsselbloem: SYRIZA won elections by making promises with no money to cover them

President of Eurogroup notes that Greece needs the “protective umbrella” of the program, while he stresses that there is still a lot to do

Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem on Thursday reiterated his call for quicker negotiations and reforms between Grece and its eurozone creditors, while warning that time is running out for the Greek economy.

While speaking to Dutch channel RTZL, Jeroen Dijsselbloem hinted that the Greek SYRIZA government “won elections with promises for which there is no money to cover”.

Furthermore the Eurogroup President noted that Greece needs the “protective umbrella” of the program, but as he further stressed there is still a lot to be done. “Not much has been done so far. Negotiations must take place”.
